AT DAGGERPOINT SUITE consists of four movements for piano and drums. 16-year-old pianist/composer Joshua Catania of Waukesha, Wisconsin and 18-year-old percussionist/composer Jeremy Reutebuch of Whitewater, Wisconsin first put pen to staff paper in November 2016, launching a year-long adventure of exploration and creation. Joshua and Jeremy have been best of friends since they were 10 and 11. In addition to playing in orchestras, wind ensembles, percussion ensembles, and a drumline together, they play in an improvised duo format, frequently working across Southeastern Wisconsin at bars and restaurants. They truly have a multi-faceted, musical friendship. It was because of this partnership that the idea of a musical piece for piano and drums was hatched. Joshua and Jeremy tapped into the world of poetry and sought knowledge from many musicians along the way. They wholeheartedly give thanks to the great concert pianist and master of composition Curtis Stotlar for his guidance and critique, drummer Devin Drobka for his drumming and musical support, and recording engineer Ric Probst for his wisdom behind the soundboard.
